The School has computer laboratories in both the Music and Sonic Arts buildings. The Lab in Music is a cluster of 16 Apple Mac's which provide listening, word processing, music notation and related items of software to support study on the BMus and BA pathways.
The Lab at SARC is a 30-machine cluster of Macintosh computers which are all networked to a series of Apple X-Serve servers. The SARC lab provides programmes for signal processing, recording, music notation, video/graphics work, word processing and on-line access to the SARC's iTunes library and services provided by Naxos.
The School is also using the University's recently installed HP High-Performance Computer cluster. This is one of the most powerful computer clusters for parallel processing in Europe and staff and students from the School are using it for audio/video related rendering projects. The HP Cluster is an Itanium II based system with 21 dual nodes and 2 quad nodes with all nodes connected using gigaethernet.
