Research Interests

Born from an inflicted need to negotiate Western and Asian cultures, traditions and modernities. Marcus's main research interest lies with intercultural performance and cultural politics. These extend to interdisciplinary areas such as sound and music in performance. Other research interests include postcolonial theatre, Asian Shakespeare, music and Shakespeare, globalization and performance, soundscape studies (as they relate to culture and cultural formation), critical and cultural theory, performance studies particularly virtual performativities, and Singapore Film.
